The most unique Maldives stays 🫧
Every Maldives resort has gorgeous water. These are the stays that give you something you can’t get anywhere else, and I’ve had the pleasure of experiencing these gems.
1️⃣ JOALI Maldives: an island that’s an art gallery. The Maldives’ first art-immersive resort, with installations by artists from around the world tucked across the island.
2️⃣ .Here: a residence, not a villa. Your own home on the water, with a 47-metre infinity pool, the beach on one side and the lagoon on the other.
3️⃣ The Reserve at Ozen Reserve Bolifushi: a private hotel within the hotel. The iconic two-floor overwater residences come with Chopard amenities, in-room dining, a floating breakfast and à la carte breakfast at Origine, just 35 minutes from Malé by boat.
4️⃣ The Finolhu bubble: sleep under the stars. A see-through bubble tucked into the garden, so you fall asleep looking straight up at the night sky.
My take: art lovers should book JOALI. For groups or a big celebration, it’s .Here. For total privacy, The Reserve. And for one night you’ll never forget, the bubble.

What to know before your Nile cruise 🇪🇬
A Nile cruise is one of the most magical ways to see Egypt, but there’s more to plan than most people expect. Here’s what I tell every client before they book.
1️⃣ Pick your boat. A dahabiya is intimate, with 12–20 guests, at about $400–800 pp/night. A premium ship like Uniworld or Viking has pools and more amenities, at about $200–400. Ultra-luxury is the top tier, at about $500–1,000.
2️⃣ Pick your route. Luxor–Aswan is 3–4 nights, a Luxor round trip is 6–7, and a Cairo round trip is about 11 nights with the pyramids included.
3️⃣ Expect early mornings. Breakfast can start at 4:45am so you beat the heat and the crowds at the temples.
4️⃣ Budget for add-ons. The sunrise balloon over the Valley of the Kings (paid in cash, and a must), Luxor Temple at night, and Abu Simbel at about $450 pp. Pricey, but worth it.
5️⃣ Know what’s included. Usually full board, guided tours and transfers. Uniworld includes alcohol at meals only, and the wifi is patchy.
6️⃣ Go October to April. Summer is cheaper, but it’s extremely hot.
Ready to sail the Nile? DM me “NILE” and I’ll help you choose the right cruise for you. Booking with Voyager Guru costs you nothing extra, you just get more.

Beach villa or overwater villa? 🏝️
Everyone pictures the overwater villa, but after staying in both, I don’t think it’s always the right call. Here’s how I help clients choose.
🌊 Overwater: the dream. Waking up over the water, stairs straight into the lagoon and a pool on your deck. It’s the Maldives moment most people picture.
🌊 Overwater: the trade-offs. Often smaller, with many junior-suite style (bed and lounge in one room). Some resorts also charge more just for a better spot on the jetty, with the same layout.
🌴 Beach: the surprise. Often far more space and privacy. JOALI’s entry Beach Pool Villa is about 680 sqm, with a garden gate, a wraparound pool, a hammock and your own stretch of beach. It’s the first entry-level beach villa that converted me.
🌴 Beach: the trade-offs. Lush islands mean more bugs, outdoor bathrooms get hot, and sunrise or sunset views vary from villa to villa.
My take: couples, go overwater for the wow. Families, groups or longer stays, go beach. And at some resorts, the beach villa is simply the better room.
Not sure which to book? DM me “VILLA” and I’ll tell you which one is right at your resort. Booking with Voyager Guru costs you nothing extra, you just get more.

Join me as I tour our Master Oceanfront Suite at @secretsplayaesmeralda - room 7200. Overall, I was impressed by the space and the views. Building 7 is definitely where you want to be - it’s close to the preferred amenities and the broader amenities of the resort. The ocean front views are next level - just beware of your downstairs neighbors blasting their own music in the swim up pools 🙄

Where to stay in the Dominican Republic 🌴
“Punta Cana” gets used for half the island, but the area you pick changes your whole trip: the water, the vibe, the drive, even the seaweed. Here’s how I break it down for clients.
1️⃣ Punta Cana / Bávaro: best for first-timers and big-resort energy. 20–30 minutes from the airport, long white beaches, shopping and excursions right from the sand. Open stretches get more sargassum in summer.
2️⃣ Cap Cana: best for luxury and the clearest water. A gated, secure community 10–15 minutes from the airport, with some of the prettiest water in the region and mostly sargassum-free. Home to Hyatt Zilara, Sanctuary and Eden Roc.
3️⃣ Miches: best for escaping the crowds. About 90 minutes from Punta Cana airport and very much its own destination. No towering resorts yet, empty beaches and no sargassum in summer.
4️⃣ La Romana / Bayahibe: best for calm water and families. On the south coast, about 1 hour from Punta Cana airport and 90 minutes from Santo Domingo, with sheltered, calmer bays.
Not sure which side of the island is for you? DM me “DR” and I’ll match you to the right area and resort. Booking with Voyager Guru costs you nothing extra, you just get more.

Join us as we tour Villa 129, a breathtaking one-bedroom sunset beach pool villa at @alilamaldives! As a heads up, the standard beach villas are the exact same interiors just different locations. The interior space is incredible - a one bedroom with a separate living room in this price point is NOT normal. Alila is an exceptional property - DM me for special rates and Privé perks!

Hotel meal plans, decoded 🍽️
B&B, half board, full board, all-inclusive… they sound simple until you’re at dinner and find out your plan only covers one restaurant. Here’s what each one usually includes.
1️⃣ Bed & breakfast: breakfast only. Usually a buffet or à la carte, with coffee, tea, juice and water. Every other meal is pay as you go.
2️⃣ Half board: breakfast + dinner. Dinner often comes with limits, like a set three-course menu at certain restaurants or buffet only. Drinks beyond water, tea and coffee are usually extra.
3️⃣ Full board: breakfast, lunch + dinner. Same restaurant and drink limits as half board. Worth it on remote islands where lunches add up fast.
4️⃣ All-inclusive: full board + drinks. If a resort only offers this plan (like Hyatt Zilara or Secrets), it’s truly all-in, though drink quality matches the resort’s caliber. If there’s also a premium plan, this one usually means the main or buffet restaurant and house pours.
5️⃣ Premium all-inclusive: my go-to. Dine anywhere on the island, with premium spirits, wines and Champagne included. If you drink and don’t want to be stuck at one or two restaurants, this is the one.
Every resort words its plans a little differently, so always check the fine print, or let me do it for you. DM me “MEALPLANS” and I’ll tell you which plan actually makes sense at your resort. Booking with Voyager Guru costs you nothing extra, you just get more.

Why OZEN Life Maadhoo is my #1 seller in the Maldives 🌊
Not all all-inclusives are created equal. This one is built different — and I’ve sent enough clients here to know exactly why they keep coming back.
1⃣ Transfers, both ways, included. No $600/person seaplane bill waiting for you at checkout. The speedboat is covered.
2⃣ Underwater dining, included. M6M sits 6 meters below the surface. At most resorts this is an $800+ splurge. At OZEN it’s part of your stay (4+ nights).
3⃣ Drinks, all of them, included. Premium pours, all day, everywhere on the resort. No tracking what you order.
4⃣ Watersports, included. Snorkeling, kayaking, paddleboarding — you’re not paying extra to actually use the ocean.
5⃣ Overwater villa, the real deal. Direct lagoon access, glass floor panels, the whole thing. Full minibar to enjoy that sunset.
Ready to make it happen? DM me OZEN and I’ll put together a quote with our exclusive rates. Booking through Voyager Guru costs you nothing extra — you just get more. 💙

5 things nobody tells you about Maldives seaplane transfers ✈️
The seaplane is half the magic of a Maldives trip, but it comes with some rules that catch first-timers off guard. Here’s what I tell every client before they fly.
1️⃣ Daylight only. Seaplanes don’t fly after dark, so a late international arrival means a night near Malé (or picking a speedboat resort instead).
2️⃣ It’s pricey and rarely included. Expect roughly $400–$1,000 per person roundtrip, on top of your room. A few all-inclusives bundle it in, most don’t.
3️⃣ Pack light, pack soft. Luggage limits are strict, and overweight bags can fly on a later plane than you.
4️⃣ Plan for a lounge wait. Flights are grouped, so an hour or two in the seaplane lounge is normal. 5-star resorts have their own private lounges, while some 4-star resorts use a shared one.
5️⃣ It’s beautiful, not comfortable unless you are flying @joalimaldives or @soneva ‘s planes. It’s loud and it gets really hot in there, so bring noise-cancelling headphones and water. And yes, the pilots fly barefoot.
Have a question, or want more Maldives tips? DM me “MALDIVES” and I’ll send them your way. Booking with Voyager Guru costs you nothing extra, you just get more.

The hidden costs of a Maldives trip (that no one warns you about) 💸
Let’s be real — most people budget for flights and the resort rate, and then get absolutely blindsided once they land. Here’s what to actually plan for.
1⃣ Transfers — seaplane or speedboat to your resort can run $300–$600+ per person roundtrip, and it’s almost never included in the online total (or OTA booking!)
2⃣ Drinks & dining — unless you’re on a true all-inclusive, expect $25+ for a cocktail, $20–$30 a glass for wine, and even bottled water hitting $10–$15. Two drinks a day each adds $700+ to a week.
3⃣ Excursions & extras — snorkel trips, dolphin cruises, dive gear, bikes — all paid. And the resort boutique? Budget 3–4× what you’d pay at home. Pack the reef-safe sunscreen.
None of this means don’t go — it means go prepared. DM me “BUDGET” and I’ll put together a full breakdown with what’s actually included at the resorts I recommend, plus our exclusive Virtuoso and Fora perks at no extra cost to you. 💙

JOALI Maldives vs JOALI BEING: which sister resort should you actually book? 🌴
Same owners, same atoll, ten minutes apart by speedboat, and two completely different trips. I’ve stayed at both, and this is how I decide which one a client belongs at.
🎨 JOALI Maldives if you want art and design around every corner, a foodie-level dining scene (Saoke’s overwater Japanese is reason enough), sundowners with live music, big beach-club energy and a villa that’s enormous even at entry level. Works beautifully for families and couples alike.
🧘♀️ JOALI BEING if you need a reset, not just a holiday. Programming built around Mind, Skin, Microbiome and Energy, a spa complex you can use freely with or without a treatment, three kitchens at FLOW so eating clean never feels like a compromise, and the most proactive butler team we’ve had in the Maldives. Quieter, calmer, chill DJ sets by the pool rather than cocktail hour.
✨ Can’t decide? Do both. There’s a daily 12:30 inter-island transfer, and my split-stay order is BEING first to reset, then JOALI to celebrate.
DM me “JOALI” and I’ll put together a quote with our Virtuoso perks at either (or both). Booking through Voyager Guru costs you nothing extra, you just get more. 💙
Full reviews of both are on the blog, link in bio.
